Adoption DNA tests are one of the most valuable services offered here at TESTING4DNA. Adoption is a generous act, and perhaps nothing says more about a couple's compassion than taking a child into their home to raise and care for. An adopted child grows up with a sense of gratitude toward her adopted family. As she grows older, however, she may develop a curiosity about who her parents really are.

This curiosity is natural, for as we mature we begin to wonder where our personality traits and eccentricities came from. Meeting one's biological parents sometimes can answer questions about those unique personality traits or flaws. Often, someone who has been adopted can spend years searching for his biological parents.

Once a suspected biological family has been found, TESTING4DNA can help to verify that a biological relationship exists. Our adoption DNA tests are confidential, discrete, and easy to conduct. They are also extremely accurate, and thus can be used as legal proof of a biological relationship.

Our DNA tests are noninvasive, and conducted with simple buccal swabs. This swab resembles a large cotton tipped swab like would be used to clean one's ears. It is rubbed gently several times on the inside of each participant's cheek. The process takes only minutes to complete.

The swab is made of a special material that promotes the integrity of DNA. The DNA from an individual's cheek cells is sufficient to be able to determine heritage. After sample collection, the swabs will be analyzed by our devoted team of highly-skilled scientists. They will determine if the two samples contain DNA that could have come from two individuals who are related. While a DNA test will not be able to determine with 100% accuracy that two individuals are related, inclusion rates are often higher than 99.99%. Less than 100% accuracy is not a limitation of TESTING4DNA, it is a natural part of DNA testing. In order to determine with 100% accuracy that two individuals are related, we would have to test them against all possible matches. This would be every other individual in the world, clearly an infeasible proposition.

A DNA test can, however exclude an individual from being a possible relative of another. Thus, adoption DNA tests can provide you with a high level of confidence that a person is related to you, or allow you to completely eliminate the possibility that they are. Fortunately, there isn't a middle ground that leaves much room for interpretation.

Our adoption DNA tests are completely confidential. Participants will only be identified by a number to those who perform the actual tests and release the results. Thus, scientists working at TESTING4DNA will not be privy to your identity or the identity of the person you are potentially related to. Results will only be released to the individual responsible for ordering the test.
