Father DNA test

Father DNA test

Sometimes a child's true parentage might come into question, in these cases a Father DNA test can be the solution. While no one really wants to think about a situation like this, these situations happen quite often, specifically in child custody, and child support cases.

The test is relatively simple, both the alleged father, and the child swab their mouth, put the swab in an envelop, and sent it off to a laboratory for testing. It is not painful, and it is not as complicated as many individuals belief it to be.

Each individual has a unique strand of DNA, however certain patterns determine parentage. Laboratories analyses this data, and then send it back to the appropriate party whether it be the child (once the child's an adult), the father, the mother, or a court. father DNA testing can also be performed on a deceased alleged father. This is a bit more controversial, but it can be important in certain cases such as inheritances issues.

Contrary to popular media shows, most of the time DNA is requested, not because someone was alleged of cheating, but is required to settle legal disputes, help adopted children find their parentage, and because of hospital mix ups. While none of these situations are a good thing, a DNA test can be most helpful.

Legal issues where a court may order a DNA test is for things like child support, inheritance, custody, immigration issues, welfare, and adoption.

It should be noted that it is possible for a DNA test come back incorrectly. This has led to a few cases in which the father decided not to have anything to do with the child, and then came to find that he was in fact the child's father. However, these are incredibly rare.

A father DNA test must be done by an accredited lab in whatever country the testing is being done in. These labs are the most trusted, and provide the most accurate results. Some of these labs may also be government funded, which may be another reason they are used.

DNA testing is the most reliable test to determine parentage. There is less than a .1% chance of there being an error. So, while of course there may always be a mistake, they are incredibly rare. Individuals have a very similar DNA pattern to their parents, however a few individuals known as chimeras do not have the same genes, but two separate pair of genes. However chimeras are very, very rare.

It should be noted that paternity testing is only regarding the father, not the mother. There are older types of parental testing, however they are hardly used in any courts of laws around the world because they are not reliable enough, and parentage is not something to fool around with.

If someone needs a father DNA testing they should not stress too much, as it is painless, reliable, and while the situation may not be ideal it can provide a level of closure that is important for many individuals. DNA tests are unavoidable in our current societies, but they are a great test to determine parentage.
